Hospice Foundation of Palm Beach

hosted more than forty members on Wednesday, April 20 at The Sailfish Club in Palm Beach to celebrate the season’s success in raising support and funds for local hospice programs.

The dedicated group of volunteers heard from Mark Cook, President of the Hospice Membership Board and Co-Chair of Hospice Evening 2016. He provided an update on the 2015-2016 accomplishments of the foundation and plans for the Hospice Evening 2017. Mark Cook and Carol Baxter were recognized with the Hospice Ambassador Awards for co-chairing the sold-out fundraiser, Hospice Evening: The Secret Garden.

A highlight of the luncheon was the presentation of the 2016 Hospice Hero Award to Anita Hamilton Michaels. Michaels has been a member of the Hospice Foundation of Palm Beach since 1988, serving as the president of the Membership Guild in 1991 and 1992. Michaels also served as Chairwoman to Hospice Evening in 1989, 1990, 1993, 2008, 2009, and 2014. In 2012, Michaels underwrote several hundred packages of inspiration encouragement for patients of Hospice of Palm Beach County affected by cancer. Her continuous support and work with Hospice Foundation of Palm Beach has been instrumental to the success of the foundation.
